Terms of Service

1. Acceptance of Terms

By creating an account on NiaConnect or using any part of our platform (the "Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"), our Privacy Policy, and our Community Guidelines. If you do not agree, you must not use the Service.

These Terms constitute a legally binding agreement between you and NiaConnect Limited ("NiaConnect", "we", "us", or "our").

2. Eligibility

You must be at least 16 years old to use NiaConnect. By registering, you represent and warrant that:

• You are at least 16 years of age.
• You have the legal capacity to enter into a binding agreement.
• You will provide accurate and truthful registration information.
• You will maintain the security of your account credentials.

Users registering as Facilitators (educators) must additionally complete our verification process to offer paid mentorship sessions.

3. Your Account

Account Responsibility

You are responsible for all activities that occur under your account. You must immediately notify us at [email protected] if you suspect any unauthorised use of your account.

Accurate Information

You agree to keep your profile information current and accurate. Impersonating another person, institution, or organisation is strictly prohibited.

One Account Per Person

Each person may maintain only one active NiaConnect account. Duplicate accounts may be suspended.

4. Acceptable Use

You agree to use NiaConnect only for lawful, legitimate educational and community purposes. The following are strictly prohibited:

• Posting or sharing illegal, harmful, abusive, threatening, harassing, defamatory, or discriminatory content
• Uploading or distributing malware, viruses, or any malicious code
• Scraping, crawling, or harvesting user data without authorisation
• Attempting to gain unauthorised access to any part of the platform or another user's account
• Using the platform to promote or sell unrelated commercial goods or services without authorisation
• Creating fake profiles, bots, or automated accounts
• Engaging in plagiarism or presenting others' academic work as your own
• Facilitating financial fraud or misrepresenting scholarship applications
• Any activity that violates applicable local, national, or international law

5. Content & Intellectual Property

Your Content

You retain ownership of any content you create and post on NiaConnect (posts, projects, messages, uploads). By posting content, you grant NiaConnect a non-exclusive, royalty-free, worldwide licence to use, display, reproduce, and distribute that content solely to operate and improve the Service.

Our Content

NiaConnect's platform design, code, branding, and original content are protected by copyright and other intellectual property laws. You may not copy, modify, or distribute our proprietary materials without express written permission.

Copyright Complaints

If you believe content on the platform infringes your copyright, contact us at [email protected] with details of the alleged infringement and we will respond promptly.

6. Mentorship & Payments

Mentorship Sessions

Facilitators on NiaConnect may offer paid mentorship sessions. Prices are set by individual Facilitators. NiaConnect facilitates the transaction but is not a party to the mentorship agreement between Facilitator and Student.

Fees

NiaConnect charges a platform service fee on paid sessions. This fee is disclosed at the time of booking. Facilitators receive the agreed amount minus the platform fee within the processing period.

Refunds

Refunds for cancelled sessions are governed by the Facilitator's stated cancellation policy. Where a Facilitator fails to attend a confirmed session, a full refund will be issued automatically.

7. Donations & Scholarships

Donors may contribute funds to student projects or create scholarship pools on NiaConnect. All donations are:

• Voluntary and non-refundable once processed, except where an error is reported within 48 hours
• Applied directly to the designated project or scholarship fund
• Subject to NiaConnect's disbursement verification process to prevent fraud

NiaConnect is not responsible for how recipients use donations after verified disbursement. Donors are encouraged to review project details and communicate directly with student recipients.

8. Privacy

Your use of the Service is governed by our Privacy Policy, which is incorporated into these Terms by reference. By using NiaConnect, you consent to the collection and use of your information as described in the Privacy Policy.

9. Disclaimers & Limitation of Liability

No Warranty

NiaConnect is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, express or implied. We do not guarantee that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free from viruses.

Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, NiaConnect shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of or inability to use the Service, even if we have been advised of the possibility of such damages.

Third-Party Links

The platform may contain links to external websites. NiaConnect does not endorse and is not responsible for the content or practices of third-party sites.

10. Termination

You may close your account at any time from Settings. NiaConnect reserves the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms, Community Guidelines, or applicable law, with or without notice depending on severity.

Upon termination, your licence to use the Service ceases immediately. Data deletion follows the process described in our Privacy Policy.

11. Governing Law & Disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. Any dispute arising from these Terms shall first be attempted to be resolved through good-faith negotiation. If unresolved within 30 days, disputes shall be submitted to binding arbitration in Lagos, Nigeria, under the rules of the Lagos Court of Arbitration.

You waive any right to participate in class-action litigation against NiaConnect.

12. Changes to Terms

We may revise these Terms from time to time. We will notify you of material changes via email and an in-platform notice at least 14 days before changes take effect. Continued use of the Service after that date constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
